  1. And, Dr. Shade was my second “boss” (my dad was my first) just out of college.and was one of my Favorites.. He reminded me one day that when I became a new person In Christ, that Jesus’ death on the cross paid for my past, present And Future sins, and that I could freely serve Him with no condemnation.. Very soon after, a lightbulb went off in my brain, in my heart and I had an insatiable desire for God’s Wird that I have to this day, now FORTY YEARS later <3 Thank you, Dr. Shade And "Ms." RubyShade <3

  3. It was my privilege and honor to work for a few years with Dr. Bill Shade at Grace and Truth in York, PA. I quit my job as printer/compositor in York, and later returned to that company at their request. When a temporary layoff came I was laid off as I was then low in seniority. Almost immediately I was approached, by a fellow laborer with Dr. Shade, to come work with the WWBI program in its infancy as they were in need of someone with proof-reading and composition skills. I didn’t know what to do. While reading through the book of Philippians I came across two passages that made my decision for me: 2:13 and 4:19. God works in mysterious ways, It is an immense blessing to see how God is using the WWBI program to immerse students in the fundamentals of God’s Word.

    God bless you Dr. Bill.

  4. Dr. Bill Shades, Meeting you was the greatest thing that happened to me.
I am more than persuaded that this is divine. The work of Ministry will never be the same again particularly discipling the Church of Jesus Christ.

    Together in the Lord’s vineyard.

  5. It was niece meeting you in your mission in Kenya, your encouraging words and Bible verse encouraged me to keep on in this journey of salvation

  6. I was one of the first team members at Bro Bill’s Teen Encounter in Youk PA. Lived in a house with 3 others and Bruce and his wife as house overseers. We had a place for tends to come, a safe place off the streets. I loved that summer of 66 or 67.

  7. This man and brother has been my greatest inspiration in ministry. You have touched by your teachings.May the loving Father care and strengthen.

  8. My husband and I were reminiscing about years gone by and decided to look up Camp of the Nations, and found your bio. The summer of 1976, I was music director. I loved my summer there at camp. I was cleaning out some file cabinets and found my old songbook as well as my certificate for intermediate riding lessons. I grew so much that summer! …. such fond memories. I married a preacher boy… 43 years and 8 children later, I am still teaching music. I appreciate the impact you had on my life. God bless.

  9. I am fortunate enough to have Bill and Ruby as My Aunt and Uncle. Over the years I’m 55 now we were blessed to be able to call on them in times of need, Uncle Bill and Aunt Ruby came at a moments notice to Preach for all of our family funerals. They came to Indiana to make sure and certain that my dad Aunt Ruby’s brother was saved this past November after dad was hospitalized for Septic Shock. . My dad spoke those precious words that he was a sinner and believed that Jesus was his savior. I waited my entire life to hear those words On December 16, 2020 my 55th birthday, God looked down and saw that Cancer and Covid had given him so much pain he took him home that night. I’m so grateful for all the years we’ve been able to see them and they ministered to all of us Brothers and Sisters, the many nephews and nieces. They helped restore my faith where years ago I had fallen. They are very special to all of us. Sometimes I wonder how they reach so many. They still do that today. I’m so blessed to have them.

  10. Dr. Shade and Ms. Ruby were awesome to everyone who visited Camp of the Nations or served on its staff. During my first summer, I was a camper. During my second, I completed the Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program under Steve Shade’s guidance and served alongside my fellow “LITers” as a camp counselor for children who fled to the camp to avoid the Atlanta Murders (1979-1981). I also worked at the stables with Susan, where we cared for the Camp’s 22 horses and a fawn. During my third summer, I served with Bob, Penny, Dawn, and the rest of the worship team (i.e. The Encounter Life Singers) under Phil Shade’s direction. Dr. Shade regularly encouraged us to sing in a local church’s weekly services and radio broadcasts, and once on his television broadcast in York, PA. These combined experiences helped me grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ, prepared me for future seminary studies, and prompted a lifetime of serving Christ as an ordained deacon, worship leader, and Bible teacher. It’s amazing to recall what God did through Dr. Shade and Ms. Ruby to reach thousands of kids over the years, and I’m so very thankful to have been one of them.

  11. Brother Shade, I’ve been reading your book on Romans – great job. It gives great insight to doctrinal issues that are vitally important to each believer. Thank for investment of time and study that produced this book for us. God bless you.
